Fenrir, the Wolf - the waiting

This post will be a special edition, dear Reader. Tomorrow, on 22nd September Cygnus Rock Band releases their 2nd video "Fenrir, the Wolf" for their latest album "Revival" and since this is a special day and a special occasion, this blogpost will also be special.

Let's start with the basics, because I know very well that the vast majority of you have no idea and/or too lazy or dumb to comprehend what's going on and what it's all about.

Don't ever dare to say a word, I know you 😒 the fucking damned technology is right there in your hands and instead of getting educated, you use it for watching p0rn or at better (no, not better at all 🙄) cases for Candy Crush Saga...

So, let the education begin.
Fenrir (not to mix him up with Fenrir Greyback, please), also known as Fenris, Hróðvitnir or Vánagandr is pictured as a giant and rather monstrous wolf in Scandinavian mythology. He is the son of the trickster god Loki and the giantess Angrboða (this way the brother of Hél, the goddess of the underworld and Jörmungandr, the giant snake). He had such a blood-thirsty, aggressive nature that the gods decided to bind him with Gleipnir, an iron rope. (Before that the gods tried to bind him twice with iron chains, but Fenrir simply broke them off. The gods then decided to ask the dwarves to forge an unbreakable rope; the dwarves made Gleipnir, and with that rope the gods managed to bind Loki's son.)

Fenrir has a key role at Ragnarök, when he sets the world on fire that results the collapse of the humane and divine world. At a final showdown he kills Odin, the king of the gods, but then Odin's son, Viðarr takes revenge on his father, eventually killing Fenrir.
Upon traditions and mythology Fenrir represents the evil and chaos, the embodiment of destruction that goes directly against goodness and order, that appears through the gods of Æsir.
Fenrir has two sons, Sköll and Hati; both are wolves (some sources call them wargs, an especially large and evil kind of wolf) and during Ragnarök Sköll destroys (actually eats up) the Sun, while Hati eats the Moon.

And now let's talk about our favorite wolves.

Yes, Fenrir, Sköll and Hati, too, but now I mean everyone's favorite Colombian rockers.

The first vague news about a new video in progress appeared some time in June, soon after the official release of the video "Walking Through the Forest of Life". As always, the band was highly secretive about it.

This is one of their superpowers among many others, this secretive approach together with the tiny teasings they drop here and there. I love it. It's amazing and I can't have enough of it. It's like tickling your erogenous zones. Always a bit, always keeping you on the edge, while you're melting, in every possible way.

Then there was silence for weeks. The band was busy promoting "Walking Through the Forest of Life" along with other events (some of these I will tell about in later blogposts). Then suddenly, on 7th July this post appeared on Instagram:

Waves of excitement rose high among fans

yes, I was more excited than you would imagine
yes, I did scream and shed tears of joy
yes, I do enjoyed it, shamelessly
yes, I do enjoy it right now, too
yes, I would do it again, in any moment

but the band started the highest level of their secretive, no-talk, no-detail, you'll-see-it-all-later game.

Seriously, just between us, it was more teasing and alluring than a foreplay before sex. Vague answers only, even for the most begging questions. Giggles, "you'll see"

I swear they enjoyed it more than us... you know, when you're just about to have an orgasm, but your partner slows down and plays with you, enjoying that you're about to explode

and we were left puzzled, confused, in love, in thirst, in a painful and sweet separation from all that we love so much.

Then, approx. a week later another post appeared on Instagram.

Another teasing. Another tickle, another kiss on your most erogenous zone, another begging for more, but still just a "no, no, you have to wait" answer with some quiet giggle. You bite into the pillow, your eyes are full of tears from desire, but... you have to wait, because that's what the ruler of your heart wants.

We still didn't know anything. Some people tried to guess, but in vain, the band stayed silent. Nevertheless the countdown started. More than two months. 69 days from the publishing of this post until the official release. 69 horribly long, painful days. 69 days until seeing those that are the most important in your life.
But you're a warrior of Cygnus Army, a winner and not a whiner. You take your sword, your axe and your shield and enter the battlefield of waiting.
Each day was as long as the life-age of the earth. But you kept telling yourself, that it would be over. Just hang in there. Hang in there... hang in there...
Hang in there...
You counted down the days. You marked them in your calendar. You made it through July. You made it through the horroristically slow August, through all the days of the European heatwave, keeping in your mind that nothing in this world lasts forever, things have the nature of being temporary, meanwhile hard days have these very twisted and nasty characteristics of looking like lasting forever, just to weigh you down even more.
When Day 34 passed in the second part of August, a slight hope started to shine. We're halfway there.

No, please, don't ever try to sing here Bon Jovi if you don't want to freak me out.

You kept listening to Cygnus, every day. For hours. Songs on repeat. Dreaming, day-dreaming. Waiting. Waiting... reaching September, now hope slowly, very slowly starts to return into your veins.

And all of a sudden

(in the meantime the band posted here and there some countdown in their IG stories, but that was just another playful teasing on the back of your neck with some gentle fingers)

on 11th September this post appeared on the band's social media sites.

Finally, the song title was revealed! The new video will be for their totally nuclear, raw, heavy, full-of-old-school-thrash-metal-elements song "Fenrir, the Wolf"!
FINALLY!!!
And not just that.
You could see on the image that these men are really about something extraordinary. They had a photo session dedicated especially to this video. They look hotter than hell serious sexy beasts totally badass

excuse me, dear Reader, the fangirl in me is wrestling with the chronicler

and if you see it well, Deneb appears half-eyed.

Regardless of revealing the song, it left you with even more questions. What is this serious appearance of the band?... What does Deneb's blind right eye mean?... Why does Ruxx look like a beast on a leash?...

Meanwhile the wait got even more exciting. Now you had the song, you had these amazing, very tough warriors who are definitely up to something larger than life. You just got even more thirsty with all these teasings. It's that tiny moment when your lover teased you enough to put you on the edge of all, then you see their smile and the fire in their eyes... and you know that from now on they will drive you into the most sweeping, most beautiful insanity that ever exists.
It's that tiny moment.

On 18th September the band published this on their Instagram:

That was it. All that you wanted, all that you yearned for. You thirstily read and re-read the captions, you lean over the photos like a Cygnus-maniac Gollum.

One band to rule them all!

The only thing you still yearn for is to see the video itself.
Tomorrow, dear everyone. Tomorrow the wait will be over. Tomorrow Cygnus finally releases "Fenrir, the Wolf".
Only a few hours to go!...
And until then you listen to this on loop.
